Dispute Resolution Policy
APPLIES TO DRIVER – SHIPPER MATTERS
The oversight committee is designed to be the final say on any driver – shipper disputes. The committee shall be comprised of a pool of full time truck drivers, and a pool of full time shipping agents. Any 1 member from each of the respective pools is required to hear a case along with a board member. Shippers and Drivers receive a free month of membership as a reward for hearing a case. If either party wishes to appeal they may appeal 1 time (once). The second verdict is final.
Initial Hearing: Heard by 1 member from each of the parties leaving a panel of 3 members to hear your case. 1 Driver, 1 Shipping Agent, and 1 member from the Board to direct the proceedings and break ties.
Appeals: Heard by 2 members from each of the parties (except the Board) leaving a panel of 5 members to hear your case. 2 Drivers, 2 Shipping Agents, and 1 member from the Board to direct the proceedings and break ties.
Court Costs for original hearings of any case are as follows;
3 Months Membership Costs to losing side
2 Months to pay for Judges
1 Month to Pay Winning Side Off
Plus judgement amount
Appeals are 3 times as expensive as there are 2 times as many judges to expand the jury of peers.
All disputes should be directed to Highway Direct in writing via the Contact Us page and include all relevant information and supporting documentation. Please only report a dispute once; multiple notifications on the same dispute can slow an investigation. Please title the email ‘Dispute’.
Please note: Any actions taken by Highway Direct are independent of any disciplinary actions that may be handed down by any other organization, club, agency, or regulatory body that you may be associated with due to the event(s) that led to the oversight committee hearing.
